The following is a list of various articles written by Mr.
Lieb. The two most important works are the books, Litigation Support
Department, and the Litigation Support Technical Standards. Any firm can use
these two books together to provide every legal team with top quality support
and a consistent Litigation Support experience.
Litigation Support Department
Litigation-Support.Info
The litigation case lifecycle is
consistent from case to case. Only the subjective aspects, such as names and
issues change. Therefore it is possible to construct and use a technology plan
that anticipates technical needs and meets them, throughout the entire case
lifecycle.
The first step in the lifecycle is
to create a list of all potential discovery materials and estimate the total
cost for litigation technology goods and services. As all cases require many of
the same services it is possible to create a simple budget spreadsheet,
applicable to all cases. The Litigation Support professional can use the
spreadsheet to explain potential costs to the attorneys. The attorneys, in
turn, can use the spreadsheet to explain potential costs to the client. The
technology plan walks everyone through these and other steps. As possible, Lieb
created and provides the supporting documents in the book and on the
accompanying CD.
Litigation Support Department can
pay for itself while providing top level support to the firm, legal team, and
third parties. Learn to run the department as a business. Firms of all sizes
will benefit from this book. Whether firm outsources all Litigation Support or
has a large in-house department, the strategies and considerations are the
same. Only the responsibilities shift from person to person.

Litigation Support Technical
Standards
eDiscovery.org
This document presents technical
specifications for most every type of litigation technology good or service. It
is an excellent template, or "base-line", any firm can use to help
eliminate any discrepancy between firm technical requirements and how vendor
products. Litigation Support may spend needless hours modifying a vendor's
product for all cases until the firm (1) publishes a technical specifications
document, and (2) requires everyone to match it. The time and cost saved are
significant. Legal teams can begin reviewing materials more quickly when there
are no technical problems. They can also produce more quickly for the same
reason.
This document is free and available
as a download.
"[…] I have read and
actually used the section on Vendor Specifications to come up with E&A Vendor
Specs. I estimate that using the
template Specs saved me at least 50 hours of independent research in drafting
the E&A Vendor Specs. I used
the E&A Vendor Specs for a recent project with a new vendor and had only
two calls from the vendor for clarification on 4 small points. The work that I received back from the
vendor using the specs was absolutely perfect and loaded and tested without any
errors."
